Eric V. Currence PhD

Dr. Currence is a licensed psychologist in the state of Ohio. With over 10 years of education and experience, he has proven himself to be a caring individual committed to the growth of his clients.

 

Dr. Currence received his Master's Degree and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University. He has served in a number of mental health organizations throughout his doctoral training and clinical career, offering such services as individual/group/family/marital psychotherapy (Matrix Psychological Services), psychological assessment (MedPsych Ohio Valley, Inc.), intervention to victims of abuse and neglect (Directions for Youth and Families), as well as working with individuals who have sustained traumatic brain injuries (The Ohio State University, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation).

 

Additionally, Dr. Currence works for the Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University where he instructs a number of undergraduate and graduate courses (Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, Cross Cultural Psychology, and Cultural Issues in Psychotherapy).

 

Dr. Currence is truly invested in providing quality care to his clients, and enjoys engaging in the process of changing lives, one mind at a time.

Carrie A. Kroner

Ms. Carrie Kroner is a licensed supervising professional clinical counselor in the state of Ohio. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology from The Ohio State University and a Master’s degree in Education and Allied Professions from the University of Dayton. Ms. Kroner has over 15 years of clinical experience working with troubled children, adolescents and adults providing individual, group, family and marital therapy.

 

Ms. Kroner is National Certified Counselor and qualified as a Certified Trauma Practitioner with The National Institute of Trauma and Loss in Children. She has expertise in assisting clients who are struggling with traumatic life events. She is passionate about providing a safe, comfortable environment where clients become empowered to move from victims to survivors.

 

Ms. Kroner’s experience is extensive and includes, working in a program integrating education and intensive mental health treatment for middle and high school students with behavioral/psychological disorders and their families, coordinating recovery services for adults with highly intensive mental health needs, providing crisis and support services to families including trauma work with children placed in foster care, children of murdered parents/siblings, and children who witnessed domestic violence. In addition to working at Currence Consulting, LLC, Ms. Kroner provides supervision training to other counselors enabling them to develop professional competency and excellence in their skill sets.

 

Ms. Kroner offers a caring and compassionate approach to therapy (with both adults and adolescents), letting her clients know that they are not alone in their struggles. Ms. Kroner's ultimate goal is to teach her clients how to make their lifelong journeys more fulfilling.

Barbara Wilhelm

MSEd, LPCC

Ms. Barbara Wilhelm is a licensed professional clinical counselor in the State of Ohio.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Business Management from Franklin University and a Master of Science in Education and Health Sciences from the University of Dayton.  Ms. Wilhelm’s clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents and adults with a variety of behavioral and mental health concerns. She provides family and couples therapy in addition to individual work.

 

Ms. Wilhelm was an integral part of a unique community based, outreach-counseling program for adults, providing assistance to those who have limited access to traditional mental health services.  Ms. Wilhelm developed a passion for helping people in financial and other services industries before deciding to continue her education to launch a career in clinical work. She is a strong advocate for developing awareness and understanding of mental health issues and for building strong individuals, families and communities.  Ms. Wilhelm has also spent a number of years volunteering as a presenter and group leader working with couples preparing for marriage.

 

Ms. Wilhelm uses an integrative approach to meet clients where they are and build on the strengths they already have.  Her warmth and compassion provides a comfortable environment for gaining insight and building skills to better cope with life’s challenges and improve relationships.

Luis Cruz-Ortega PhD

Dr. Luis Cruz-Ortega earned a doctorate (PhD) in Counseling Psychology from Andrews University (Berrien Springs, MI) and completed a doctoral internship and a post-doctoral residency at The Ohio State University, Counseling and Consultation Service (Columbus, OH). He also holds a master's degree in counseling (University of Phoenix, Puerto Rico Campus, Guaynabo, PR, USA) and a bachelor's degree in theology (Universidad Adventista de las Antillas, Mayagüez, PR, USA).

Dr. Cruz-Ortega is a licensed psychologist (LP) in the states of Ohio and Michigan. In addition, he is licensed to practice mental health counseling and provide training supervision in Ohio and Florida (LPCC-S, LMHC). He has more than 18 years of experience working at university counseling centers, in community mental health, and private practice. He is a member of the National Latina/o Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and the Ohio Psychological Association.

He grew up in Puerto Rico and loves to visit the island to spend time with family and friends. In his free time, he enjoys road trips through country roads, landscape photography, watching movies, and spending time with his family.
